{"id":121,"date":"2026-07-11T14:40:43","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T02:40:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xpd.co.nz\/?p=121"},"modified":"2026-07-11T14:53:24","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T02:53:24","slug":"home-server-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/xpd.co.nz\/index.php\/2026\/07\/11\/home-server-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Home server update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gave the home server bit of a tidy up today, it needed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Replaced SATA cables with matching black cables<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tidied up all the PSU cabling and cable tied<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Added additional front fan for HDD cooling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still looks a mess, but better than it was, and when you&#8217;re on a budget, you do what you can, with what you have on hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So now the maintenance has been completed, thought I&#8217;d give a full break down on the server hardware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Case &#8211; Antec (Not sure what model, was a hand me down from a friend)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PSU &#8211; DeepCool 600W PF600x<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CPU &#8211; Intel Core i5 6500<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Motherboard &#8211; Asus H110M-A<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RAM &#8211; 2x 8GB Samsung DDR4-2666 (1333 MHz)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Primary drive &#8211; Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (SATA (SSD)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data Drives &#8211; 4x 3726GB TOSHIBA MG03ACA400\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>            1x 3726GB Seagate ST4000DM004-2CV104\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>  1x 3726GB Seagate ST4000VN008-2DR166<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Network &#8211; Gigabit fed by a 500\/100 fiber connection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Old ? Yup. Mess ? Yup. Heavy ?
