I’m a gamer. Always have been. And always will be in one form or another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, what did I do last month ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sold my kick ass gaming PC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My friends didn’t believe me when I said in our Discord server that I had the PC on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To be honest, it was hell of system really, solid CPU, decent RAM, good video card. But.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was too good for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While I am a gamer, I am not a gamer that stresses about FPS, refresh rates, clock speeds and so on. Long as the game ran “smoothly”, I was happy. I’ll be honest, the new “tech” in gaming (mainly video cards) was just confusing me as well, I didn’t know if I should be enabling certain things in games video settings to improve things or not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shaders, ROPs, Pixel, Vertex, Texture fillrates, DLSS, raytracing, XT, RTX, CUDA, Tensor, all started blurring to me, and actually making games less fun in some cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I grew up with an Atari 2600, then an Amiga, there were no add-ons to improve games etc, you ran with what the developer gave you, and in most cases enjoyed it. And that’s how I still am I guess. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So my PC was more powerful and capable than what I really needed, so I made the call to say goodbye. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So….. what am I doing for entertainment then ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Well, with the proceeds from the sale, I’ve gotten myself a fishing kayak and accessories, a new phone, RC truck, going on a decent weekend away with mates later in the year and a few other little things. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of my other hobbies requires my attention, so I’m getting into that more as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So am I gaming at all ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yes, I am. I have Xbox One, PS3, PS4 for general fun, but have an old work PC slightly tickled to still let me play some stuff with mates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its just a little Acer box with an i5 6500, 12GB RAM, and Quadro P620 video card – I’ve done one mod which was to add a case fan to the top to give more airflow to the video card (its almost touching the side of the case – poor design). It plays a lot of my Steam library which consists of a lot of old games anyway which will run happily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, and one other thing, which was mentioned in an earlier post, is the new dog, he keeps me busy with wanting walks and entertainment \ud83d\ude42 Which in turn helps keep me outside and exercising a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
